SCHOOL PROFILE 2022-2023
Marist Brothers International School (MBIS) is a private, college-preparatory school, catering to students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. Since opening our doors in 1951, our graduates have consistently achieved placements in universities and colleges around the world. MBIS has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) since 1972, and became an IB World School in 2017 (with first exams in 2019). We are committed to excellence in education, but believe that excellence means more than a rigorous and stimulating curriculum. Our holistic approach includes a focused dedication to character – developing skills which make our students stand out from the crowd. Character and community are at our heart – the foundation of the Marist ‘difference’.
Mission Statement: MBIS will make students our utmost priority and encourage them to achieve their full potential by fostering spiritual growth, appreciating cultural diversity and developing a life-long love of learning. We will provide the opportunity for all stakeholders to develop a sense of community, spirit and pride in our school.

NOTES ABOUT THE MBIS TRANSCRIPT
In Grade 11 and 12, all classes are taught as IBDP classes. This includes classes for students who are not pursuing the IBDP. Grade 9 and 10 are taught using California State Standards except in Social studies where Aero Standards are used and in Science where Next Generation Science Standards are used. All courses are taught at a college prepatory level. Grades 9 and 10, in the subject area of English and Social Studies, offer an honors course to provide more challenging work to those students who require it.
MBIS assesses students on 1–7 scale and does not calculate GPA, nor does it rank students. A passing grade is a 3 or above. Students who transfer without certain high school credits required for graduation purposes, may receive full credit based on previous academic results and/or an interview with administration.
