Developing future-ready skills with our IB Programmes

A dynamic and flexible curriculum that grows with your child

MBIS IB Programmes

Balancing eastern and western philosophies, our curriculum nurtures curiosity, resilience, and compassion, empowering students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Marist Brothers International School (MBIS) provides an academic experience that evolves with your child—offering a continuum of learning from the inquiry-based PYP approach in the early years to the renowned International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in high school.

What is International Baccalaureate (IB)?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers a continuum of globally recognized educational programmes designed to develop well-rounded, inquiring, and internationally minded students. At MBIS, students engage in the IB philosophy through the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and conclude with the IB Diploma Programme (DP) in Grades 11 and 12.
Provide a seamless progression of learning from early years to high school.
Focus on developing critical thinking, communication, and collaborative skills.
Encourage students to address real-world issues with creativity, compassion, and global awareness.
Offer pathways to top universities worldwide through the rigorous and respected IB Diploma Programme.

The IB Mission

The IB inspires young people to become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens. Through education that builds intercultural understanding and respect, the IB empowers students to make meaningful contributions to a more peaceful world.

The IB Learner Profile

The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

Benefits of the IB for students—as defined by the IB.
IB learners are:

encouraged to think critically and solve complex problems
drive their own learning
a core part in educational programmes that can lead them to some of the highest-ranking universities around the world
more culturally aware through the development of a second language
able to engage with people in an increasingly globalized, rapidly changing world.

The IB Curriculum

Design of Curriculum
The uniqueness of the programme is due to the design of the curriculum; the subjects are not taught in isolation, and the diploma programme offers a broad, balanced, conceptual, and connected curriculum.
The teaching of the courses—approaches to teaching and approaches to learning—provides the students with skills to understand the world around them and the complex nature of humanity. Moreover, the students are encouraged to develop an understanding of not only their local context but also the global context.
Another unique feature of the IB programmes is the breadth and depth of the learning experiences provided through a balanced curriculum. The IB curriculum promotes conceptual learning—the way the courses are designed enables students to transfer knowledge, analyze and evaluate issues, develop creative ideas, and apply new perspectives.

I am a Grade 12 student at Marist, and I have been part of this community since Kindergarten. Growing up at Marist, I have come to appreciate its unique cultural diversity and inclusive spirit. With my mixed heritage – being Taiwanese and Nepalese – and having grown up in Japan, it could appear that I would struggle to find a sense of belonging. However, at Marist, I have always been embraced for who I am. My teachers and classmates have made me feel like family, and my unique cultural background has been valued and celebrated.

At first, I didn’t fully realize the warmth and acceptance that surrounded me here. But as I grew and gained a broader understanding of the world, I came to appreciate that such an inclusive and welcoming environment is not always the norm elsewhere.

Marist is more than just a school – it is a community where everyone is truly accepted.

Learning at MBIS begins in the Early Years classroom (ages 3-6), then transitions through our Elementary (grades 1-6) and Upper School (grades 7-12).
