General Giving Questions
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Donations made to Marist Brothers International School (MBIS) for the construction and improvement of school buildings and facilities are considered contributions to a Certified Public Interest Promotion Corporation and therefore qualify for tax incentives.
Individuals who make such donations may claim either an income deduction or a tax credit through their annual tax return.
There are two deduction methods to choose from:
- Income Deduction: The portion of your donation exceeding 2,000 yen will be deducted from your taxable income.
- Tax Credit: 40% of the portion of your donation exceeding 2,000 yen will be directly deducted from your tax liability (subject to certain limits).
For all donations received, the school will issue a Donation Receipt Certificate, which is required for tax filing.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Amy Kamibeppu, Marketing & Development Officer, [email protected]

What is the Corporate Contribution Program (CCP), and how does it benefit companies?
The Corporate Contribution Program (CCP) allows companies to support MBIS while potentially receiving preferential tax treatment. Under this program, all or a substantial portion of a company’s contribution may be classified as a deductible expense, subject to applicable regulations.
In addition to tax benefits, participation in the CCP supports corporate social responsibility (CSR) and SDG initiatives, while strengthening partnerships with the school and the wider community. MBIS can also provide the necessary documentation to support corporate tax filings.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Amy Kamibeppu, Marketing & Development Officer, [email protected]
How do I know MBIS will use the funds appropriately?
MBIS follows international best practices in donor stewardship and transparency. For every capital gift, donors receive a formal Gift Agreement signed by both the donor and the Head of School. This document outlines:
- The specific project or purpose of the gift.
- The anticipated timeline for use.
- Recognition and reporting arrangements.
This ensures that every yen given is used exactly as intended – and that donors can see the lasting impact of their generosity.
