For twelve years in its entirety, Marist successfully shaped the way I engage and learn in global settings. In such a friendly environment, I realized that learning was something I actively sought for. The school’s collective guidance gave me the confidence to ask questions, think critically, and most importantly to step out of my comfort zone.
My teachers did more than just teach from the textbook; they helped me thrive as both a student and an athlete. Their accommodation of my schedule and thoughtfulness allowed me to balance being a full-time speed skater while keeping up with my studies, without feeling like I had to choose between academics and my sport. Marist taught me that learning is about perspective. To see things from different angles, question assumptions, and take on challenges with curiosity. These valuable skills continue to help me learn and excel at an Ivy League school. Being in a diverse community where everyone’s background and voice mattered helped me become more attuned to perspectives beyond my own.
