Accreditation & Memberships

Marist Brothers International School (MBIS) is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.

WASC is a California-based accrediting agency (one of the six regional agencies in the United States), working with schools in the United States and around the world to ensure students receive a well-rounded, high-quality education. Furthermore, as an IB World School, MBIS provides a full IB continuum.

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

MBIS is a member school of EARCOS—an organization with over 160 member-schools throughout the region and JCIS, one of 31 member schools. JCIS exists to promote, support and sustain quality English medium schools serving the international community in Japan through an educational framework which is international in both style and substance. Schools applying for membership to JCIS must meet several important criteria including stability, continuity, professionalism and an explicit commitment to internationalism. Education must be provided in English.

MBIS is authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme

Marist Brothers International School is a candidate school* for the PYP and MYP. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.
