About MBIS

Marist Brothers International School in Japan—a school with a strong foundation and clear vision

Developing tomorrow's global citizens into compassionate and creative problem solvers.

Since 1951, Marist Brothers International School (MBIS) has offered an international education for students from Early Years to Grade 12.

International Curriculum

Our international curriculum reflects our commitment to nurturing global citizens and preparing them for life’s opportunities. The curriculum follows Common Core State Standards and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), and the globally recognized International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for Grades 11 and 12.

*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programmed (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.

English is the primary language of instruction but as our students come from diverse family backgrounds the school is a rich linguistic environment with over 20 other languages spoken.

MBIS is centrally located in the Kansai region with easy access to public transport—students can commute from central Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto, Akashi, and Himeji. Conveniently nestled between mountains and the sea, we offer an inspiring setting for wholesome learning and growth.
