JapaneseJapanese language classes are offered to Montessori (non-native speakers only), Grades 1–6, and Grades 7–12 (beginners, intermediate and advanced).
Advanced Japanese
Through N.I.E. (Newspaper in Education) activities, the students will be able to develop reading comprehension skills as well as writing skills. The students are also encouraged to participate in an annual bilingual speech contest, as well as Haiku and essay contests.
The primary goals of the course are to help the students pass Level 1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, and to prepare them to successfully pass Japanese college entrance exams, and to become successful learners at college-level.
French
French 1: Beginning French:
Emphasis is placed on building foundational language skills which students can expand on in later years through reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students learn to use French in a variety of situations, from simple greetings to short, simple conversations. The course also includes an introduction to French culture.
French 2: Intermediate French:
Conversational, reading, and writing capabilities are improved and expanded on from French 1, with the aim of developing a functional ability in French.
French 3: Intermediate/Advanced French:
Conversational, reading, and writing capabilities are improved and expanded on from French 2, with the aim of students gaining fluency and functional literacy in a French-speaking environment.
French 4: Advanced French:
French fluency & literacy ability is further expanded on with students focusing on academically functioning in a French environment (studying history, literature, and language entirely in French).
