Social Community
Children are in the process of discovering who they are and in the Montessori classroom we aid them in this process through lessons of Grace and Courtesy; learning how to live well in a community. The older children are responsive to the needs of the younger children, helping them on their journey to becoming functionally independent. The younger children learn to seek help from their more experienced classmates. The children are able to choose to work alone or with others. This balance between freedom of the individual and the needs of the group is fundamental to our community and is the foundation for the self-control, responsibility, respect and independence that is laid in the concept of the Children’s House.
