FAQ

1) Do students need to complete an admissions test to enter the school?

Yes, there is an admissions test for each grade. Additionally, there is an ESL test – if required. All prior student school records are required as part of the application process.


2) Are all nationalities eligible to enroll?

Yes, of course.


3) What happens after students graduate?

MBIS graduates have successfully entered colleges and universities worldwide.


4) If our child is not fluent in English, is it possible to enroll them in a grade lower than their age group?

No. Students are enrolled in an age-appropriate grade. There are various and extensive ESL supports for students.


5) Do your students wear uniforms?

Yes, we have a strict uniform policy. Please follow the links on this site for further information and images. Uniforms can be purchased at Kobe Daimaru (078 331 8121).


6) Can graduates attend Japanese universities?

Yes, students have many National University options, including Waseda University, Kwansei Gakuin, Sophia University, ICU, and Doshisha University. However, students are not eligible to enter public universities.


7) Do you offer student residences or boarding facilities?

No.


8) Do you provide visas for the students?

No. It is the responsibility of the family to apply for a visa.


9) Do you have school buses?

Yes, there are two routes – the Shioya route and the Ashiya/Sannomiya route. The buses stop at Motomachi, Rokko Island, Mikage, Ashiya, and Shioya. Buses leave school approximately 15 minutes after school ends.


10) Do the school fees include student supplies?

No, supplies are the responsibility of the family. Students are issued with textbooks and extra rental textbooks are also available. Some special courses (such as AP courses) may require additional textbook purchases.
