Quality Education in a Caring Environment
The teachers and staff of Marist Brothers International School (MBIS) invite you to consider our school for your child's education. Our curriculum, based on the California State Standards, covers ages 3-5 (Montessori), Grades 1-6 (Lower School), and Grades 7-12 (Upper School). All subject areas are taught by appropriately-qualified and experienced teachers.

In addition to a rigorous academic program, students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sports, drama, music, fine arts and cultural programs. Student organizations include Upper and Lower School Student Councils, the National Honor Society, and the Marist Athletic Association. Every year we host a Model United Nations, which is attended by international schools throughout Japan.

All classes are taught in English. Japanese is taught to non-Japanese children in Montessori, and to all students in Grades 1-12. French is taught from Grades 7-12.

An active Parent-Teacher Association welcomes and encourages parental involvement in the daily life of the school.

A unique feature of MBIS is its strong emphasis on spiritual values, coupled with the care and concern actively demonstrated among staff and students. Daily assemblies in both the Lower and the Upper school encourage students in this area of their personal growth.

The school has an English support program for students from Grades 1-6. Students who apply to enter Grades 7-12 must demonstrate above-average proficiency in spoken and written English, as well as in English comprehension.

All non-native English speakers applying for admission must be assessed for language proficiency. Students applying for Grades 1-8 must take the Language Assessment Scales test. A minimum score of 227 on the Computer-based TOEFL [ or equivalent in the IBT based TOEFL score of 83] is required to enter into Grades 9-12.
